Do your emotions roll up and down like a roller coaster throughout the day? Well, I'm about to get a little weird on ya. You are probably empathic.
Nope, don't freak out that I just used a "new agey" term. It actually means that you feel others pain and joy. God actually calls us to feel each other's pain and joy. We are called to feel one another's spirits.
God endowed each of us with His energy. Every single thing has an energy. Ask any decent scientist and they can attest to that. I know that people who don’t believe in Jesus Christ understand that there is energy and spirits in the world and have hijacked this understanding to such a degree that some Christians get very upset when people talk about energy and feeling other's energy.
Here's the thing—God talked about energy before anyone else did. God spoke and breathed life into us. We are made in His image. We are spirit energy.
No way am I into crystals or anything that is not 100% from God and in His word. It says in His word that we battle not flesh and bone but spirit.
John 6:63 "It is the Spirit who gives life, the flesh is no help. The words I have spoken to you are Spirit and life," says Jesus Christ.
Through the years, I was told not to be so sensitive. I rode an emotional roller coaster every day of my life. Most people have built up a barrier through the years and are dull to the pain and emotions of others.
God made us emotionally sensitive. We are called to rejoice with those who rejoice and to weep with those who weep. Wisdom and discernment come from the Lord. That sensitivity to feeling that someone is lying or is sincere is apart of feeling someone else's emotions and spirit energy.
There are times I want to recoil from people. There are times where I will feel the unexplainable, by words, emotion to reach out and hug someone.
For many years I chalked it up to just being overly sensitive and silly.
Through a journey of learning about Eastern medicine—don't worry I'm not going to start chanting or say anything counter to scripture—I learned that what Eastern medicine and all the alternative religions use (that follows scripture) was always intended to be from God for Christ followers. Follow me here—we are called to lay on hands for healing—putting God's healing energy into the sick person. Jesus Christ laid His hands on people and said to do the same.
We are called to meditate on God's word and His Spiritual presence—with thanksgiving and praise for all He has done and created. We are to use God's Holy word to praise Him and to speak life over each other. His word is living and active—cutting between spirit and flesh. Those without Christ recoil at His name and His words—that speaks to the power and energy of Jesus's name and His energy breathed Word. This inspires awe and wonder in me. That the demons shutter at the name of Jesus Christ. WOW! The very power of Him who saves us and died for us. Does that not bring tears to your very eyes at how awesome and wonderful that is?
Galatians 4:6 "Now because you are children, God has sent forth into our hearts the Spirit of His Son, the Spirit who cries out, 'Abba!' (that is, 'Dear Father!')"
Galatians 5:25 "Since it is through the Spirit that we have Life, let it also be through the Spirit that we order our lives day by day"
Proverbs 20:27 "The human spirit is a lamp of Adonai; it searches one's inmost being."
So how do we live, daily, that are bombarded by the emotional spirits of others? Half the battle is recognizing that our emotional roller coaster is not just our own emotions. The other half is covering yourself in God's word through proclamations.
It is vital to steep yourself in God's word. It is vital to focus on only what is good and lovely so that you have the emotional energy to withstand the negative onslaughts that will happen when faced with confrontations or people that bombard our energy field—our spirit with their negative spirit.
I have found it is critical for me to limit my exposure to mainstream media and music. I must keep Christian music flowing in my mind. Worship music buffets the other energies that come up to me. My mind is reinforced by God's Holy Spirit and my strength to bear up is mightily increased.
I regularly reach for positive, Christian messages, webinars, and videos to keep fuel in my emotional tank.
I surround myself with as many positive people as possible. I limit contact with those that are toxic to me. And I keep learning. I keep speaking with the Holy Spirit in prayer to find what I need to help me walk each day with peace and calm through every interaction.
And I have others cover me in prayer. This is so critical to have prayer warriors. So let me be your prayer warrior now 😊
Let's pray: Dear Lord Jesus God Almighty, we humbly come before You in great thanksgiving. Lord God we thank You and praise You that You breathed life into us. We praise You that Your energy flows throughout the universe that Your hand created. Lord Jesus we humbly worship You for Your awesome and amazing sacrifice so that we may have life. Your word says that we are born again in spirit. Your Holy Spirit dwells within us. I am humbled. Lord Jesus that You would die for us and seek us/me even when my hard heart and selfish pride kept us/me so far from You. But Your spirit called every second to our spirit until we realized our sin and turned to You with our whole heart. Jesus Lord God, we praise You! We sing Hosanna in the highest!
I humbly pray for each and every sensitive spirit that is learning how to walk in this sinful and broken world. Lord Jesus will You bolster us, please. Lord Jesus will You put Your song in our heart and mind, please. Lord Jesus we humbly pray that You would imprint Your holy word upon our hearts and minds so that we can walk in Your spirit and stand against the waves of evil energy that may bear down on us. Lord Jesus Yours is the name above all names.
Lord God almighty we are in Your righteous right hand. We are protected by Your Holiness and Power—Power beyond all comprehension. Your loving spirit is all we need Lord Jesus. Holy Spirit we humbly pray for Your intercession daily as we move about and tend to Your sheep. Now and forever God You reign. You are our strong tower. Your hedges of protection are all we need. Praise You Lord Jesus God Almighty Holy Spirit, thank You, Alleluia, Alleluia, Amen!
