Honoring Others and Ourselves: Devotional
How do you give honor to others? Do you give honor to others? How about your immediate family?
This verse encourages us to think of others, place them in honor, and serve our Lord with diligence, perseverance, and consistency.
I think consistency is one that I most falter at. How about you?
I know that I can get pumped up to serve and think about those in need but then daily life moves my mind away from consistently honoring, serving, and caring for those I pass by at the store or street.
In the hustle and bustle of the day my words and actions toward my family are less honoring than I know they should be. Do you struggle with honoring and caring for those closest to you?
(I'm not saying NOR do I think scripture is saying be a doormat. There is def. a balance in treating others with honor and care and becoming a victim to selfish people.)
I love small acts of kindness as a way to encourage our minds to think of others. What small acts of kindness do you like to do?
I also like to pray for strangers I pass by in my car, or store etc. as a way of showing God that I care for all His children. It's a secret way of caring for someone without them ever knowing--but our heavenly Father knows and is proud of us for it.
Let's take a moment to think about these beautiful verses and what we can do today to be more consistent in honoring those around us.
How can I be praying for you today?
